CBC Bowlers Representing South Africa at the Commonwealth Games 2022

CBC is very proud of Annatjie van Rooyen (left) and Esme Kruger (right) who will be representing Team South Africa at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games starting on the 28th July 2022.

Both ladies have represented their country before at the Games with Annatjie bagging a gold medal at the Para-Sport Mixed Pairs B2/B3 division in Glasgow 2014 and Esme winning a silver medal in the Ladies Fours category at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia.

This year, Annatjie will be going as a Director for the Visually Impaired Athlete, Herman Scholtz, whilst Esme is competing in the Women’s Category.

Everyone here at CBC is extremely excited for our athletes and will be keeping a close eye on the results as we are sure another medal is on the horizon!

Send off to provincial reps

There was a good turnout of club members at a Farewell Function in honour of those members who

are travelling to provincial and national tournaments.

The 13 CBC club members chosen to represent Gauteng North in a variety of upcoming inter district

and national tournaments were congratulated by the club chairman and presented with a token of

our appreciation for their efforts.

Esme Kruger, our Protea player, thanked the CBC old Boys Club and the bowls section in particular

for their support and the on-going renovation and maintenance projects that have transformed the

club facilities to rank with the best in the province

Bowling highlights from the last few months

The club hosted two special events the latter part of of 2019. A Breast Cancer Bowl for Pink event in October whereby R16K was raised for a Pretoria based charity Reach for Recovery. This was the fourth event of its kind and R56K have been donated to this charity the past 4 years. The annual Turkey Day, traditional presented in December was a huge success.
